Archive 001: The 1475 Tee
The first recorded moves in modern chess history, engineered into a wearable piece of art.
In the year 1475, the Catalan poem Scachs d'Amor documented the first chess game ever played using the modern rules of the Queen and Bishop. We extracted the exact notation from that historic 15th-century match and geometrically wove it into the intricate, mesmeric mandala featured on the back of this garment.
The front features the official Control The Center logo executed as an unconventional, asymmetric collarbone strike—designed for the chess aesthete who wants to represent the brand and the game without looking like a walking novelty billboard.
This is not generic merch. This is an archive.
The Design:
- Front: Asymmetric right-collarbone Control The Center logo.
- Back: The 1475 Scachs d'Amor Notation Mandala.
The Construction:
- The Canvas: Crafted from ultra-soft 5.3 oz premium 100% ring-spun cotton. Each shirt undergoes a custom pigment-dyeing process, giving the fabric a unique, vintage-washed character that ages beautifully over time. Built with 1x1 ribbing and jersey neck taping for long-lasting structural integrity.
- The Print: High-fidelity, commercial-grade Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfer. Unlike cheap, stiff vinyl, this water-based ink breathes with the fabric and yields a soft, retail-ready hand feel.
- The Details: Control The Center™ inside-neck label for zero itch and maximum comfort.
- Origin: Designed, precision-pressed, and packed by hand in our Ohio workshop.
Fit & Care:
- Fit: Modern, tailored fit. True to size. (Size up for a looser, relaxed look).
- Care: Machine wash cold with like colors (due to the premium pigment dye, a natural vintage fade will develop over time). Tumble dry low or hang dry to preserve the integrity of the archival print. Do not iron directly on the graphic.
